Six Miles

I needed to do six miles today for my half training.  I knew if I was going to run outside I needed to get a move on. I am NOT a morning person unfortunately, so it was about 9 before I went down to the track.  It was cloudy with a threat of storms so I decided to do the track so my car would be close.  Let me just say after about 15 minutes it was miserable.

Not an attractive pic by no means, just keeping it real.

I normally do 2 minutes of running with 30 seconds of walking and my slow pace is about a 13 minute mile.  This seems to work well for my training. I do better in races and I keep myself from injuries.  I couldn't even keep up that. I ended up with a very, very slow 1.5 minutes of running and 1 minute of walking after about mile 3.  The humidity was horrendous, but I was very thankful for the occasional breeze and cloud cover.  I guess running in the house for three weeks has gotten me soft.

  1. That humidity is a killer. I usually get up and run between 5 and 6 a.m. before work, and all week it's been 100% humidity with a high dew point. Today was glorious...only 55% humidity!! It's coming back next week, though. Boo. IMO, the only thing worse than running in high humidity is running in high humidity on a track! Good for you for getting out there!

    1. You are a morning person, then! I get up at 4:30 to go to work 2-3 days a week (10 hour days), but I would never do that to run! I have run several times at 9 pm when I don't have to get up so early the next morning.
