After my 11 mile long run a couple of weeks ago, I needed a little extra time to recoup. Then my grandbaby arrived so no running while I was traveling to see her. Finally got back to it today with a nice four miler. I continued with the 4/1 run/walk intervals but tried to speed up my running time a bit after I warmed up. The plan is to do another 11 mile run this weekend. The half marathon is only about a month away. I still have doubts that I'll be able to finish in less than three hours. Would love to do it in 2:45 or less, but....not sure if that is a reasonable goal for me at this point.

Long run
I did it. My daughter in law was sent to the hospital yesterday to possibly be induced so I didn't run yesterday but instead drove up to Louisville, trying to beat the bad weather, so I'll for sure be here for my little granddaughters birth! They ended up sending her back home yesterday, so we went out to eat and visited.
This morning I did ten miles on the indoor track. I knew I couldn't keep up with how many laps (12=1 mile) so I used the Fitbit to track the distance. Not sure if it was very accurate because I did the ten miles in 1:52:49. That is about six minutes faster than I did 9 miles. Doesn't sound right to me although I did the 4/1 intervals today and did the 3/1 intervals on the nine mile run.
Anyway, it was a great long run. Nothing really hurts, my legs are just really tired.

Ten Miles
Just saying it causes a bit of excitement...or is it apprehension? Tomorrow's long run is ten miles. It will (again) set a record for distance. I want to go back to the 4run/1walk intervals but am a little worried that I can sustain that for ten miles. I want to find that inner strength to do it, but don't want to ignore any discomfort that might cause an injury.
I think there is a very fine line between pushing yourself beyond what you think you can do, and pushing yourself beyond your body's capabilities, causing an injury. I've not had a running injury since July, so I must have figured where that line is. I hope I pay attention to my body tomorrow and give it the right push. I'm excited about this long run. I love that sweaty, spent, feeling of accomplishing something you never thought possible. Ten miles.....wow. Wish me luck.
